Time:       3:30pm – 6:00pm

Applicants have been divided into two groups, and there are TWO venues for the preliminary selection. Each contestant has been assigned in one of the timeslots of the selection process. Please refer to the attached schedule for your own venue and timeslot. You are required to arrive in the above-mentioned venue 10 minutes before the assigned time.

The first round of the contest consists of two parts, which are (a) Prepared Speech and (b) Q & A Session.

In the first part, you will need to give your speech on the given topic (Macau Matters). The length of the speech should be at least 3 minutes but not more than 4 minutes. You are NOT ALLOWED to use any visual aid (e.g. PowerPoint), and you CANNOT READ YOUR SCRIPT or REFER TO ANY KINDS OF NOTE. Violation of these rules may result in your elimination.

After you have given your prepared speech, one of the judges may ask you a question, which is the second part of the selection process. You have one minute to answer the given question, and your performance in this part will also be evaluated.

Your performance in the preliminary selection will be evaluated based on the following rubric:
