[Till end of Oct] “Poetry in the Garden” Exhibition: Bridging Chinese and Portuguese Cultures

The "Poetry Garden" art installation, generously donated by the Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR), is now officially unveiled. The installation will be on public display until the end of October 2025, located on the scenic platform between the K.C.Wong(W) and the Tai Fung(T) building on the City University of Macau campus.

"Poetry in the Garden" is a creative literary project that celebrates the spirit of cooperation and enduring friendship between the People's Republic of China and the member states of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). The installation consists of 11 beautifully designed panels, each featuring a curated poem from a contemporary author representing one of the nine CPLP nations and the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR). To embody the multicultural and multilingual essence of Macau, each poem is presented in three written languages—Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese—and is accompanied by an audio component, allowing visitors to hear the verses spoken in their original Portuguese, as well as in Cantonese and Mandarin.

This project was developed by IPOR in collaboration with Casa de Portugal in Macau, the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. It was sponsored by the Macau Foundation, the Institute for Municipal Affairs, the Consulate-General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, among others.
