DISW first Qualitative Research Method and Nvivo Software Operation workshop was successfully held

In order to develop a new path of diversification and digitalization for Master and doctoral thesis writing, Department of Innovative Social Work organized the first Quality Research Method and Nvivo Software Operation workshop. This research method workshop invited Dr. Zhang Jingjing to be the lecturer, coming from Department of Sociology, School of Humanities, Southeast University.

 

From January 15th to 17th, 2019, Dr. Zhang Jingjing considerately and explicitly shared the core issues probably emerging in qualitative research, vividly explained the practical process and key procedures of Nvivo software, and also instructed students how to use Nvivo software to improve academic writing. During the 3-day workshop, nearly 40 Master and PhD students from the Innovative Social Work Department, the Institute of Psychology, and the School of Education, all actively participated in this workshop and consulted Dr. Zhang about own research questions and thesis.

 

After the successful ending of this workshop, students participating in this activity all gave positive feedback, and expressed their willingness to join more academic activities like this one. At the same time, the organizer, Department of Innovative Social Work hopes that this workshop can really improve postgraduate students’ understanding of qualitative research methods, as well as their capabilities to apply in own research practice.
