Organized by Foreign Language Education and Research Center of FHSS, Yang Jingyan and Xue Chufan, sophomores of IBC class of FOB, have achieved good results in the South China Regional Competition of the National College English Debate Competition held by CATTI of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration on May 16, 2021. After five rounds of competition, our students successfully broke to the national competition with the fifth place among 56 representative teams.
During the whole preparation process, Professor Hu Bo provided the contestants with meticulous guidance and high-quality competition environment. Yang Jingyan and Xue Chufan got the first and second place at the first and second round respectively. Regrettably, they won fourth place in the third round, but they rushed to catch up and achieved good results in the fourth and fifth rounds. This also shows their excellent professional knowledge and psychological quality.
Finally, we wish the two students could have excellent performance in the final national competition. China Universities Debating Championship (CUDC) is composed of more than 20 authorities from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bureau of Foreign Languages, China Media Group and other well-known universities such as Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The competition tends to cultivate international talents who can lead the development of the new era by guiding students to discuss international hot spots and multiculturalism.
