The General Education Department recently held the award ceremony for its "Tiangong Classroom Patriotic and Pro-Macao Themed Essay Competition." As a highlight of the "Tianhan Classroom-Hong Kong and Macao Session," the event celebrated hometown feelings and national identity through student writing, with the venue filled with enthusiastic faculty and students. The ceremony was hosted by Dr. Danny Lei Sha, Programme Coordinator of the General Education Department.
In his remarks, Dr. Sha noted that general education is not only about knowledge and expression, but also about value guidance and cultural identity. The essay competition encouraged CityU students to write from a youthful perspective, reflecting on national development, Macao's story, and Chinese culture and to turn the spirit of "loving the country and loving Macao" into thoughtful, heartfelt words.
This year's entries stood out for their sincerity and depth. The award results are as follows:

First Prize
Zhou Yinlong, Peng Jingxiang, Shen Sihan

Second Prize
Ao Xingchen, Xiang Junnuo, Li Bingqi

Third Prize
Kang Tongjia, Li Xiang, Yang Yihe, Mu Xianlin
During the ceremony, winners of the first, second, and third prizes received certificates and prizes, followed by group photos. The winning essays drew on history, culture, and contemporary Macao life, showing students' nuanced understanding of "One Country, Two Systems," the destiny of the nation, and the responsibilities of youth.
The General Education Department said it will continue to use platforms such as " Patriotic and Pro-Macao" to integrate reading, writing, and values education—helping students build cultural confidence through language and deepen their bond with Macao and the Chinese nation through writing.
